Inauguration of the Italian Cuisine Week


The official inauguration ceremony of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2023 was held yesterday at the Niccolo Hotel in Chongqing.

The initiative, now in its eighth edition, aims to enhance the rich Italian food and wine tradition through events and promotional activities of various kinds organized by the diplomatic-consular network of the Farnesina, in collaboration with public and private actors representing Italian cuisine, in over 100 countries around the world.

“Year after year, this thematic review has established itself at an international level as a moment of diffusion and sharing of the fundamental values ​​of the Italian food and wine tradition”, stated, in his opening speech, the Consul General of Italy in Chongqing Fabio Schina. “This year’s edition”, continued Schina, “has as its theme “At the table with Italian cuisine: well-being with taste” and aims to emphasize the connection between the Mediterranean diet, synonymous with a healthy diet and high quality, and well-being, understood as a healthy lifestyle”.


The Consul General then illustrated to the guests, who included representatives of local authorities, operators in the F&B sector, local media and experts and enthusiasts of Italian cuisine, the rich program of activities organized by the Consulate and its partners. From 13 to 19 November, in Chongqing, Chengdu, Guiyang and Kunming, more than 30 events and promotional activities of various kinds will be held, to the organization of which mainly restaurants, luxury hotels and Italian ice cream parlors contributed.
